Volunteer

We are constantly seeking volunteers to come and help us with our work. If you are passionate about helping children and young people achieve their full potential we would love to hear from you.

All volunteers require a DBS check and a reference check. Volunteers wishing to work directly with children and young people will be required to participate in mandatory training.

For more information contact our Volunteer Coordinator Sian Bennett on 020 8985 9089.

We are seeking:

Club Volunteers

You will assist the support workers who run the clubs by helping to set up activities and refreshments and by supporting and enabling the young people to take part in the activities provided. You will be needed one evening a week during term time and we would prefer volunteers to commit for one term at least. This way you will have an opportunity to take part in our Volunteer Program which will be accredited in-house.

Experience of supporting/ working with young people and children with disabilities is not essential but an open attitude to the challenging yet exciting role with a desire to learn and get stuck in is a must.

 Volunteer Drivers

You will help provide accessible transport for our young people and children attending the clubs. You will collect and drop off our young people and young adults when necessary and drive them to the centre. You may also drive our young people and children to activities in and around the borough of Hackney.

We require drivers for at least one evening per week and we would prefer a commitment of one term. You will need a full driving licence and good communication skills. A D1 licence is not essential but is a bonus as we have bigger cars and buses to be driven as well.

 Film Volunteers

The Huddleston Centre is a member of The Film Club in association with INTOFILM, a nationwide initiative to engage and introduce young people to film and the film industry. Our Film Club is not just watching films, but reviewing films, attending talks by industry professionals, and even making films!

We want to begin making our own film this year and are looking for a volunteer that can really help us with this. Our club runs every other Thursday from 4-6:30PM. If you have a passion for film and some experience with making films please get in touch.

Volunteer Fundraisers

We are always looking at new and exciting ways to raise money if you would like to volunteer with us to help create and contribute to fundraising ideas, activities and events we would love to hear from you.

Hen Keeper
We are looking for animal lovers who have an interest in hens or who wish to learn more about them and help look after them.

We have 4 hens which live in a run in our garden as part of our HenPower project, and to protect them from foxes at night they will need a volunteer to lock them in their coop in the evenings and let them out in the mornings. The minimum a volunteer needs to do is spend ten minutes in either the morning and/or the evening letting them out and feeding them, or locking them in and checking they have water.

Volunteers can of course spend as much time with the hens as they want when here and even attend the weekly HenPower sessions we will be running on a Tuesday 4PM -6PM more info here: http://huddlestoncentre.org.uk/programs/

This is specifically for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
